Personal Statement
I surrendered to the Lord’s call to pastoral ministry at age 18. I am amazed at how God continues to mold me as a leader and I am thrilled to pursue my next assignment for the glory of God. I am a pastor with a pastor’s heart and I am passionate about caring for people. The Lord has gifted me to serve him in the areas of preaching, leadership, care ministry, family ministry, service, evangelism, apologetics, music, and counseling. My wife is exceptionally gifted, most notably in counseling, singing, and encouragement ministries. The Lord has faithfully used her to bless the churches where we have served together. My wife and I both have strong family ties; having both been raised in Christian homes and in Southern Baptist churches. We are wonderfully enjoying raising and ministering to our three children. Next to that, we are willing and able to use the gifts God has supplied us with to serve Him wherever He leads.
Education
Along with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Dallas Baptist University, Ryan has both a Master of Divinity degree, with biblical languages, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. His major concentration at Southwestern was expository preaching; however he wrote his dissertation with a concentration on family ministry. His dissertation focused on the methodology needed to pass on the biblical worldview to the next generation.
Fun Facts
As a young boy Ryan lived in Scotland where he developed an affinity for soccer and darts but also loves baseball, basketball and volleyball. He’s drawn to the water and plans to take snorkel and scuba diving vacations with his wife Annette as often as possible. Ryan enjoys toys like yo-yo's, Rubik’s cubes, boats and jet skis, though he admits to only having owned the first two in the list. Regarding toys, he regrets not buying that gorgeous 65 Mustang back when he was 16 years old, but one day hopes to correct that mistake! He loves playing guitar, singing with his wife, reading, and swimming and wrestling with his children; Nathan, Emma, and Daniel.
