If you are in need of a church home, we hope you will visit with us.
How can you join Shadycrest Baptist Church?
- By Profession of Faith- This is a public acknowlegement that you have accepted the free gift of Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord and telling the world that you would like to follow Him by being baptized.
- By Baptism- This is when someone has already professed their faith in Christ but has not been baptized by immersion.
- By letter from another Baptist church- This is when you decide that Shadycrest is the church family through which you may better serve our Lord. We will simply write to your previous church to let them know you desire to join our church family.
- By Statement- This is how you join if you are a member of another church denomination and have already professed your faith in Jesus Christ and have been baptized by immersion.
The ABCs of Becoming a Christian
A- Admit
Admit to God you are a sinner. Repent, turning away from your sin.
This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.- Romans 3:22-26
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.- Romans 6:23
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.- Acts 3:19-20
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.- 1 John 1:8-10
B- Believe
Believe that Jesus is God's Son and accept God's gift of forgiveness from sin.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.- John 3:16
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.- John 14:6
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.- Acts 4:12
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.- Romans 5:8
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.- Ephesians 2:8-9
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.- John 1:10-13
C- Confess
Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."- Romans 10:9-10, 13
