Our Purpose:
The purpose of our program is to love, care, and impact your child with Christian values. Our activities, our thoughts, our energies are directed toward caring for the most precious gift God could entrust to our care - your child!
Mission Statement:
To extend the ministry of Shadycrest Baptist Church by providing care, education, activities, and guidance for each child. To assist in their spiritual, physical, emotional, and social growth. To provide a program of ministry and outreach, in the most positive way possible to families of the community.
Shadycrest Baptist Church "Mother's Day Out" and "In His Steps Preschool" opens Monday, August 27th and operates through the school year ending the last full week of May each year. We will follow the PISD calendar, closing the same holidays and vacations unless otherwise noted. A calendar will be provided upon enrollment, with specific dates.
Curriculum:
A Beka curriculum is used by our nursery, Pre-K and K classes. This Christian based curriculum promotes the concepts of shapes, numbers, the alphabet, phonics, handwriting and much more.
Christian Instruction - We make every effort to incorporate basic Bible principles through stories, songs, and prayer before meals.
Chapel - The children will attend chapel on a weekly basis where they will experience worship and singing.
Social Skills - Activities are designed to promote self-esteem, social interaction, communication, and listening skills.
Outdoor Play - Children are taken out daily (weather permitting) for outdoor play. Please dress your child appropriately for the weather.
Creative Arts - Children are allowed to express their creativity in a variety of areas including crafts, music, and dramatic play.
Music Classes - for all 2yr. old classes and older.
Spanish Classes - for all Preschool Classes
What Your Child Needs to Bring:
Lunch - You will need to provide a sack lunch that your child can open and a sippy cup. Please include a reusable freezer block to keep perishables fresh. Only infants and toddlers can bring items to be refrigerated or heated.
Clothing - Please bring, at least one, seasonally appropriate change of clothes for your child daily. All your child's items should be labeled. Children in diapers (pull ups or training pants) must provide diapers and wipes, clearly labeled with your child's name.
Rest Mat - Your child will need to bring a small pillow and blanket, or kindermat. Please no large sleeping bags. You may also send a personal object for rest time (a special blanket, stuffed animal, etc.).
